Chinese Cultural Show was held last night to commemorate 40 years of diplomatic relations between Maldives and China. The Honorable Vice President Dr. Mohamed Waheed, was the Chief Guest of this event. Many different cultural items were performed by the China Guangdong Art Troupe. This event is organised by the National Center for the Arts in collaboration with the Embassy of China.

One of the pioneers of tourism in Maldives, Mr. Ahmed Ismail Manik passed away yesterday, whilst being treated at Nawaloka Hospital in Sri-Lanka.
Since the introduction of tourism in Maldives, in 1972, Late Ahmed Ismail Manik has served and contributed towards the sustainable growth of the industry, for which he has received awards such as the National Award of Recognition in 1997 and National Award of Honour in 2005. He also received an award from the Ministry of Tourism, in recognition of his role in pioneering the tourism industry in the Maldives.

In the Maldives, a visitor can find different types of accommodation to meet the choice of the visitors. Tourist accommodating facilities in the Maldives are mainly based in Tourist Resorts and other accommodation facilities are hotels, guesthouses, safari vessels and marinas. All Tourist accommodation facilities are registered in the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.
All Tourists should stay in a facility registered to accommodate tourists. These facilities should have their operating license displayed at the reception / public area.
All visitors should choose accommodation facilities that are registered to accommodate tourists. This is to assure visitors that they are utilising the services of a duly registered establishment. All registered facilities could be checked from our website www.tourism.gov.mv
