COVID – 19 Situation Monitoring – Movements between resorts and other islands

With recent developments in the global outbreak of COVID-19, the initial steps taken by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) of the Maldives included "lockdown" of the tourist resorts and local islands. After careful review of the situation, it has been decided to quarantine tourist resorts and local islands based on the circumstances instead of "lockdown" .

Under the new measures, tourist resorts with designated quarantine areas can accept new arrivals. However, they must be accommodated at the designated areas and notices issued by HPA shall be strictly followed. Please note that any in-house guest or staff in these facilities can ONLY leave the facility to fly out of the country.

Furthermore, you are reminded to follow the instructions given by our circular dated 8th March 2020 with reference number 88-DMU/CIR/2020/11 regarding temporary suspension of ALL excursions to local islands.

We sincerely appreciate and thank you for your continued support during this challenging time. Should you have any queries regarding this, please contact our Situation Monitoring Unit (SMU) Hotline at (+960) 7223131.
