Minister of Tourism Ibrahim Faisal Addresses at The Arabian Travel Market 2024.

Minister of Tourism Ibrahim Faisal addressed the 31st edition of Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2024, hosted at Dubai World Trade Center from May 6th to May 9th, 2024.

In his remarks, the Minister shared the Maldives' visionary goals of achieving an ambitious 6.5% growth in tourist arrivals. He reflected on the 5-Year Tourism Master Plan, which foresees 2 million visitors and a staggering 6 billion dollars in annual receipts by 2027.

Highlighting on the recent developments in the tourism plan, the minister remarked “today, our vision extends beyond luxury. We recognize the importance of striking a balance between economic growth and environmental responsibility. Sustainability is not just a buzzword for us; it is a core principle that guides our development."

While the traditional “One Island One Resort" concept continues to thrive through innovative sustainable tourism practices, contributing the majority to tourism sales, the Maldives is simultaneously exploring new chapters of tourism development.

The Minister also emphasized on the launch of the Visitor Economy Council, a significant initiative dedicated to promoting various facets of tourism. This strategic move aims to position the Maldives as a multifaceted destination, offering a wider range of experiences to tourists, including sports tourism, cultural exploration, and community engagement.

On a more crucial note, Minister Faisal underscored the recent Eco-tourism Framework and Roadmap. This initiative not only demonstrates the Maldives' commitment to sustainable practices but also aligns perfectly with the growing global trend of eco-conscious travel, a key consideration for many modern tourists.

Delegation of Maldives led by Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal includes the government front, major hotel brands, and leading travel agents and tour operators. The Maldivian lobby contributes the maximum number of exhibitors for this year's event.

ATM will allow Maldives to entertain its relevant audience with unique travel options and merit promising connections with Middle Eastern partners to ensure increased travel relations with Maldives.
